George Strait

 George Harvey Strait Sr. (born May 18th, 1952) is an American country music musician as well as songwriter, actor and music producer. Strait is often referred to as the "King of Country" and is thought to be among the most influential and well-known recording artists of all time.In the 1980s Strait was a well-known and pioneering figure within the neotraditional movement in country music known for his simplistic look and a distinctly roots-oriented sound during a time in which the Nashville music industry was being dominated by crossover country acts.Strait's popularity began when his first single "Unwound" was a hit in 1981, which signaled the mainstream rise of the neotraditional movement. During the 1980s seven of his albums made it to number one in the country charts. Strait received his first Grammy for the album Troubadour in 2000. He was also named Artist of the Decade at the Academy of Country Music and accepted to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Strait was awarded the CMA Entertainer Of The Year in 1989 as well as 1990 and 2013.
