Raquel Welch

Jo Raquel Welch (nye Tejada on September 5, 1940) was an American actress. She first gained attention for her role as Fantastic Voyage (1966), and later she was offered an acting contract by 20th Century Fox. They lent her contract to British studio Hammer Film Productions, for whom she made One Million Years B.C. (1966). Even though she had just three dialogue lines in the film images of her wearing a doe-skin bikini became best-selling posters that made her an international sex icon. Later, she appeared in Bedazzled (1967), Bandolero! (1968) 100 Riffles (1969), Myra Breckinridge (70), as well as Hannie Caulder (71). Welch was a star of many television variety specials. Her portrayal of strong female characters allowed her to break out of the mold of the sex icon that was a norm. Her rise to stardom in the mid-1960s was partly credited with ending Hollywood's vigorous promotion of the blonde bombshell. For her role in The Three Musketeers, she was awarded the 1974 Golden Globe Award as Best Motion Picture Actress in Comedy or Musical.
