Jennifer Kate Hudson, also called J.Hud (born September 12, 1981) is an American singer, actress and talk-show host. She has won numerous awards for her work in television, film as well as theater and recorded songs throughout her professional career. Hudson was the first African-American woman, and also the youngest to win the four most prestigious American entertainment awards, including Emmy (Grammy), Oscar, Tony (EGOT) and Oscar (Oscar). In 2013, she was also presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Time listed her as one of the 100 most influential people globally in 2020. She gained notoriety as a finalist in American Idol's third season 2004 when she finished seventh. She made her debut in the film in the role of Effie White in the musical Dreamgirls (2006), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress as the youngest African-American woman to win in a category for acting competition. After signing with Arista Records, Hudson released her debut studio album, self-titled in 2008 it was certified Gold in both the US and UK and also won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album.
