Jennifer Kate Hudson (born September 12, 1981) and also known by her nickname J.Hud, is an American actress, singer, and talk show host. She has been awarded numerous accolades for her contributions to film, television as well as theater and recorded music throughout her career. Hudson was the second African-American woman, and the youngest, to be awarded the four most prestigious American entertainment awards: Emmy (Grammy), Oscar, Tony (EGOT) and Oscar (Oscar). In addition, she was awarded an award on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013. Time listed her as one of the top 100 people in the world in 2020. She became famous by being a finalist for American Idol's season three in 2004 where she was seventh. In 2006 she made her debut on film in Dreamgirls as Effie, a role that played her in the role of Effie White. She was awarded the Academy Award in Best Supporting Actress in the musical and was also the youngest African-American winner of an acting competition. After signing with Arista Records, Hudson released her self-titled debut studio album in 2008 it was certified Gold in the US and UK and also won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album.
