Jennifer Kate Hudson (born September 12 1981), also known by her name J.Hud is an American actor, singer, and talk show host. In her professional life she has been awarded numerous distinctions for her work in film, recorded music TV, and theatre. Hudson was the first woman and the only African-American woman to receive all four major American entertainment awards: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony (EGOT). In addition, she was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013. Time declared her one of the 100 most influential people around the world in the year 2020. She rose to fame as a finalist in American Idol's third season 2004 where she was seventh. In 2006, she made her film debut with Dreamgirls as Effie white in the musical Dreamgirls. She won the Academy Award in Best Supporting Actress for the movie, and became the youngest African American winner in a competitive acting category.
