 Marshall Bruce Mathers III (born on the 17th of October, 1972) is known as Eminem (/,emI'nem/; often spelled EMIN3M) is an American musician and rapper. The cult status of hip-hop artist Eminem is well-known and he is widely considered as one of the most powerful rappers of all time. Eminem's global success and well-known works are believed to have dismantled racial barriers that prevented white rappers from being accepted in popular music. Though his sexy work of the late 1990s and early 2000s made him widely controversial, he came to be a representation of popular angst from the American poor and is considered an influencer for many artists of various genres.After the release of his debut album Infinite (1996) and the extended play Slim Shady EP (1997), Eminem signed with Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment and subsequently achieved mainstream popularity in 1999 with the release of The Slim Shady LP. The next two albums, The Marshall Mathers LP (2000) and The Eminem Show (2002) were his second.
