Bernie Taupin

Bernard John Taupin CBE (born 22 May 1950) is an English musician, songwriter and visual artist. The long-term songwriting collaboration and partnership with Elton John is his most significant accomplishment. Taupin has composed the lyrics for a majority of John's songs. In 1967, Taupin answered an advertisement in the newspaper New Musical Express placed by Liberty Records, a company that was seeking new writers. John responded to the same advertisement and they've worked on numerous albums together. John and Taupin were both inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame 1992. John was the son of Robert Taupin, and Daphne daughter of John Leonard Palchett Poppy Cort who was a university of Cambridge-educated classics teacher, and the former rector of Sale, Greater Manchester (then also known as Cheshire).
