Amy Lou Adams (born August 20 1974) is an American actress. She is well-known for her dramatic and comedic roles. She has been included three times on the annual ranking of the top-paid actresses across the globe. Her awards include two Golden Globe Awards and nominations for six Academy Awards and seven British Academy Film Awards. She made her film debut in Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999) in which she played an part in a supporting part. She made guest appearances in TV and played "mean girl" roles in feature films that had low budgets. Her first role of note was in Steven Spielberg's biopic Catch Me If You Can (2002), but she went unemployed for nearly a year afterward. Her breakout moment came when she portrayed the role of a sexy pregnant woman in the comedy-drama independent Junebug (2005) in which she was awarded her first Academy Award nomination.
