Jordan Ross Belfort is an American financier, criminal and former stockbroker. Belfort was born on the 9th of July, 1962. In 1999, he pleaded guilty to fraud and other criminal acts involving stock-market manipulation and running an office in a penny-stock scam. Belfort spent 22 months in prison pursuant to an agreement whereby he testified against his subordinates and partners involved in the fraud scheme. The memoir was published by Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street in 2007, and it was adapted into an Martin Scorsese film of the identical title released in 2013 in which he was played by Leonardo DiCaprio.Between finishing high school and starting the college of his choice, Belfort and his close acquaintance from childhood Elliot Loewenstern earned $20,000 selling Italian Ice from styrofoam coolers to customers at a nearby beach. Belfort graduated from American University in Biology. Belfort intended to use the earnings he made from Loewenstern for dental school. He attended at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry.
