Taraji Penda Henson, /t@'ra/dZi/t@-RAH/jee was born September 11th the 11th of September, 1970. She is an American actor. She trained in acting at Howard University and began her Hollywood career as a guest in a number of TV shows prior to becoming a star in Baby Boy (2001). She was a prostitute in Hustle & Flow (2005) in which she was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor Cast in a Motion Picture nomination; and a single mother of a disabled child in David Fincher's The Curious case of Benjamin Button (2008) which for which she was awarded Academy Award, SAG Award and Critics Choice Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress. She appeared in Date Night in 2010 and was also a co-star on the remake of The Karate Kid with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. She was the lead in Taken from Me: A Tiffany Rubin Story, a Lifetime Television movie.
