 Mariah Carey (/m@'raI@/ born on March 27, 1969) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer. The name is often referred to as the "Songbird Supreme" and "Queen of Christmas", she is noted for her five-octave range in her voice, melismatic singing style and trademark usage of the whistle register and songwriting. Carey became famous in the year 1990, with her debut album, titled "Emotions". Carey was the first artist to achieve her first five singles achieve the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, from "Vision of Love" to "Emotions".Carey's debut album debuted under the guidance of Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola who she got married to three years later. The albums of Carey Music Box (1993), Merry Christmas (944) and Daydream (1995) brought her to gain further recognition. The singles featured "Hero"," "Without You",," "Fantasy" and "Always Be My Baby" and all of them were atop the US Billboard Hot 100 decade end chart (1990s). Carey altered his appearance after separating from Mottola and added more hip-hop influences to Butterfly (1997).
