Dolly Rebecca Parton (born January 19th 1946) is an American singer-songwriter, actress businesswoman, philanthropist, and actress who is most famous for her work in the field of country music. After having achieved success as a music writer for other artists, Parton made her album debut in 1967 with Hello, I'm Dolly, which was followed by success throughout the remainder of the 1960s (both as a solo artist and with an album of duets with Porter Wagoner), before her sales and chart peak came during the 1970s and continued through the 1980s. While Parton's 1990s album were not well-received, she was able to succeed commercially in the 2000s. Since then, she has released albums under various independent labels such as Dolly Records.
