Dolly Rebecca Parton (born January 19, 1946) is an American singer-songwriter, actress businesswoman, philanthropist, and actress, known primarily for her work in country music. Parton's popularity as a songwriter led her to release her first album in 1967 with Hello, I'm Dolly. It was followed by the great success throughout the 1960s both as a solo performer as well as in an album series featuring Porter Wagoner, before she reached her peak sales during the 1970s and continued into the 1980s. While her 1990s albums did not sell well but she was able to achieve commercial success in the 2000s. The singer has since released albums through various independent labels such as Dolly Records. The label has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.Parton's music includes Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)-certified platinum, gold and multi-platinum awards. She has had 25 tracks get to No. She ranked no. 1 on the Billboard country charts, which is a record for a female artist (tied with Reba McEntire). Her 44 Top 10 Country Albums are an all-time record for any artist.
