Earl Simmons (December 18, 1970 - April 9 2021) was known as DMX (short for "Dark Man X"), was an American actor and rapper. His debut album called It's Hot and Dark was released in 1998 to critical and commercial success. The album sold 251,000 copies within its first week. DMX released his best-selling album, ... And Then There Was X in 1999, which included the hit song "Party Up (Up in Here)". The singles he released, "Where the Hood At?" and "X Gon Give It to You" were released in 2003. Commercially, the 2003 singles "Where the Hood Is?" and "X Gon"Give it to Ya?" were also very popular. The artist was the first to release an album that reached No.1 five times in a row on the Billboard 200 charts. Overall, DMX sold over 74 million records worldwide.DMX was featured in movies such as Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave and Last Hour. He was a part of the reality TV series DMX, Soul of a Man. It was primarily shown by the BET cable television network. In 2003, he wrote an autobiography called E.A.R.L. The Autobiography of DMX.
